Collaborative Family Law is a cooperative approach to negotiating and settling the legal issues that arise from a family separation without going to court.
Collaborative Family Law is a highly specialized method of negotiating that was developed specifically for complex, emotionally-charged negotiations that typically occur when one or both spouses decide they can no longer live together.
With the assistance of a family lawyer trained in Collaborative Family Law, each spouse negotiates the issues in a controlled, safe and respectful manner. Each lawyer acts as a coach for his or her client, advising them of their legal rights, entitlements and obligations. Representing lawyers agree not to take part in litigation should the spouses be unable to reach an agreement. They help the parties focus their efforts solely on settlement.
Together you, your spouse, and your lawyers will determine the issues that need to be addressed. You will both cooperatively determine the order in which they are discussed, and decide what information is required. You can also request that your FLP Family Advisor provide you with outside assistance or other service providers as required to resolve specific issues.
Collaborative Family Law is designed to assist those who are ready to take ownership and responsibility for their problems and issues.
If you would like to take the Collaborative Family Law approach to resolve your family crisis, your FLP Family Advisor will provide you with a choice of experienced Collaborative Family Law lawyers, who will coach, guide, and assist you throughout the resolution process.
