Custody and Access Assessment allows the court to determine the needs of the child, and the willingness and ability of the parties involved to provide for them.

Many children are in a state of emotional turmoil when a Custody and Access Assessment is initiated, and the child’s emotional state of mind must be taken into consideration.

Family Law Professionals ensures that the following child-related factors are considered in all Custody and Access Assessments:

1. Emotional bonds between the child and the parent and/or guardian to whom the child’s custody or access may be entrusted
2. Health and emotional well-being
3. Length of time each child has lived in a stable home environment
4. Education and training
5. Personality and character
6. Physical, psychological, social, and economic needs
7. Role of the extended family in the child’s life
8. Care and treatment of special needs
9. The effect of any disruption or lack of continuity
10. The cultural and religious heritage of the child
11. The views of the child

Our Assessors assist parents by coaching them on what and how to communicate to the child in preparation for their participation in the assessment.
