Parenting Coordination is a child-focused, alternative dispute resolution process involving a court-appointed Parenting Coordinator. The court assigns a Parent Coordinator when parenting issues are complicated, or when parents are unable or unwilling to make parenting decisions on their own. Parenting Coordinators are also assigned when the parties are identified as high conflict or when it is deemed to be in the best interest of the child.

FLP Parenting Coordinators work with your family to:

  1. Implement the parenting plan
  2. Ensure detailed compliance with the plan
  3. Resolve conflicts regarding the children and the parenting plan in a timely manner
  4. Protect, sustain, and promote a safe, healthy, and meaningful parent-child relationship

All FLP Parenting Coordinators have extensive practical experience dealing with families
in high conflict. They are also trained, licensed and/or certified in:

  1. Legal issues
  2. Family mediation
  3. The parenting coordination process
  4. The psychological impact of divorce

Parenting Coordinators use mediation to assist parents in resolving ongoing disagreements within the parenting plan and may arbitrate decisions limited to issues relating to its implementation.
